NSW: Silverwater strike spreads to other jails and courts: union

SYDNEY, Jan 14 AAP - Up to 700 NSW Corrective Services staff are on strike today in
some of the state's prisons and courts in support of a colleague dismissed over allegations
of using excessive force against an inmate.

The prison officers vocational branch of the Public Service Association NSW said the
strike, which began at Silverwater Prison yesterday, had spread across the state.

Union spokesman John Campbell the staff at the Silverwater complex had been joined
in the strike by officers from Parramatta and Lithgow jails.
